“Alexandria” (Alex Simões Ferreira)
was born on December 8th 1978 in Mozambique. He began his artwork using the media of wood under the tutelage of his father in 1990. Thereafter, he developed techniques such as soapstone, metal and many others. He presented his work at art fairs weekly in Maputo, Mozambique over the next four years. He participated in collective expositions with others and also as a solo artist. These showings included exhibits at conferences on art and other cultural events. He is a member of the art guild, Núcleo de Arte in Maputo and LATTICE (linking of all types of teachers cross-education) in the USA.
